Hucknall Warriors U10′s 1 v Market Warsop U10′s 5

Hucknall Warriors under 10′s concluded their under 10′s season with a dissapointing 5-1 defeat against Market Warsop.

It was however another good performance and they can count themselves a shade unlucky that they didnt score more goals and make the scorline look a little better.

Warriors almost got off to a dream start when a Warsop player handled in the box but Ellis Osbornes well struck penalty was hit just wide. Warriors were dominating but just couldnt find the back of the net as Kane Pickards effort was denied by a brilliant save by the Warsop goalkeeper. Warriors were looking strong at the back with Kimball Humphries a mere spectator until a Market Warsop player let rip with a stunning 20 yard effort that flew into the top corner. This stunned the Warriors whose heads seemed to visibly go down and Warsop added two more quick goals straight after the break which left the home side with a mountain to climb. Warriors lost goalkeper Kimball Humphries to injury after Warsop had missed a penalty and he was replaced by Jacob Rowland who could do nothing to stop Warsops 4th and 5th goals. Warriors still kept going forward in search of a goal to finish the season off and they got their reward when Charlie Gisborne headed home after a shot from Austin Baker was only parried by the goalkeeper.

Hucknall Warriors U 10 3 V Beeston Centurions U10 6

Goal scorers: Kane Pickard, Kimball Humphries
Match type: League
Man of the match: Not stated
Match Location: Home

Hucknall Warriors Under 10 had a fantastic start to this Young Elizabethan Under 10 Sunday Red fixture when Austin Baker latched onto a through ball and rammed a shot into the top corner after only 2 minutes played.

Warriors continued to push for a second but were stunned by an equaliser after dominating possession 10 minutes later.

Undeterred, Warriors pressed forward with great attacking play by Kane Pickard and Ellis Osborne linking with Austin Baker allowing the ball to fall to Kane Pickard to slot home to make it 2-1 to Warriors.

Great defensive work by Harry Wright and Blake Swannell kept the shots from Centurions to a minimum with great cover by Charlie Gisborne and George Seddon in midfield to break down any attacks but were unlucky to concede a second for a 2-2 half time scoreline.

The second half saw Lewis Toop and Jacob Rowland working tirelessly and Toop almost scored when a loose ball fell to him but his shot was well saved.

The heat and Warriors tireless endeavour conspired to allow Centurions to get a foothold for a period and they scored a 3rd and 4th before man-of-the-match Austin Blake scored his second with a great long-range shot.

Beeston continued to test Warriors keeper Kimball Humphries who’s distribution was excellent yet again and two further goals made the final score 6-3 which seemed a little harsh after one of Warriors best performances of the season against worthy opposition.

Beeston Centurians 4 v Hucknall Warriors 0

Goal scorers: None
Match type: League
Man of the match: Not stated
Match Location: Away

Hucknall Warriors under 10′s continue to surprise their opposition with yet another gutsy display against Beeston Centurians and despite going down 4-0 yet again the home side were made to work very very hard for their victory.

The Warriors were unfortunate not to be leading at half time as the ever impressive Kane Pickard saw two efforts just fly wide of the post and with Ellis Osborne getting back to his best his mazy runs just failed to deliver an end product.

Beeston scored against the run of play right at the end of the first half and added three more goals in the second but the scoreline was harsh on the locals as they continued to press and shared the possesion but just didnt get the bit of luck infront of goal they deserved.

Hucknall Warriors U10′s 1 v Ravenshead Reds U10′s 1

Goal scorers: Blake Swannell
Match type: League
Man of the match: Kane Pickard
Match Location: Home

Delighted Hucknall Warriors Under 10′s gained only their second point of the season and were unlucky not to gain an unlikley victory against high flying Ravenshead Reds in their latest Young Elizabethan League Div 2 red match.
Buoyed by their excellent performance the previous week the Warriors were full of fighting spirit again and at last they got the result their performance deserved.
Captain Lewis Toop lost the toss and the Warriors had to defend against a strong wind in the first half and Ravenshead were left to hit long range efforts that goalkeeper Kimble Humphries comfortably dealt with. The back two of Jacob Rowland and Lewis Toop were being protected by a midfield trio of Kane Pickard,Austin Baker and George Seddon who were working tirelessly to defend and breaking very quickly to attack with Bakers running down the left giving the home side plenty of possession in Ravensheads half. It was a shade unfortunate that the Warriors conceded the opening goal as a Ravenshead corner was sliced by a Warriors defender towards his own goal before skimming of the top of the head of another and crossing the line.
The second half saw the Warriors begin really brightly as Charlie Gisborne began to get hold of the ball in midfield and they sensed the game was there for the taking. Good work from Ellis Osborne and Austin Baker down the left ended with the ball bouncing in the box and there was Blake Swannell with almost his first touch to control and then fire the ball into the back of the net. It was no more than the Warriors deserved and their opponents were starting to panic. Kimble Humphries nearly scored straight from one of his goalkicks as the ball bounced over the keeper and onto the bar and in the last couple of minutes the Warriors nearly won it when man of the match Kane Pickards effort was well saved. There was still time for Ravenshead to have one more effort but as their striker cut in from the right his shot was brilliantly saved by Humpries in the Warriors goal.
At last the Warriors got the result their performance deserved and they can go into their last three games of the season in buoyant mood to see if they can pick up any more points.  WELL DONE BOYS.

Hucknall Town Harriers Under 10 v Hucknall Warriors Under 10

Goal scorers: Kane Pickard
Match type: League
Man of the match: George Seddon
Match Location: Away

Hucknall Warriors Under 10′s learned just how cruel football can be after losing their latest Young Elizabethan League Sunday Div 2 red match 8-1 against local rivals Hucknall Town Harriers. On a glorious morning for football Warriors started off as bright as the sunshine and produced one of their best starts to a game this season, packing their midfield with bodies and not allowing Harriers to settle. Warriors were winning the 50/50 challenges and were rewarded when Kane Pickard turned and played a one two with Charlie Gisborne before firing the ball into the net to give the Warriors a deserved lead.

It was only the second time this season that the Warriors had found themselves in front in a game but they were enjoying every minute of it and sensed a victory could be on the cards,Austin Baker was again his usual busy self and George Seddon was giving the best performance he has given in a Warriors shirt tackling ferociously and competing for every ball. With just 5 minutes of the first half remaining Warriors were still one-nil up but then an amazing 5 minute spell where the Warriors undid all their hard work followed and somehow they went into half time 5-1 down !

It was an amazing turn around and one the Warriors efforts certainly didnt deserve, but the Warriors instead of folding lived upto their name and came out for the second half fighting, and despite not having as much posession they still battleled gamely with Kimble Humphries making several fine saves and Lewis Toop and Harry Wright still challenging for every ball determined not to give their hosts an easy second half stroll in the park. Indeed Warriors nearly added a second as Ausin Baker didnt quite get enough on a shot(although his boot did come off and find the net) and Kane Pickards effort was well saved.Again the Warriors were unlucky as Harriers managed to score three more very late goals as the Warriors just ran out of steam at the end of a very strange match indeed.
