Big changes for our mobile site

If you’ve got an iPhone, iPod touch or smartphone, you might’ve been to our site on there and been stuck at the homepage. This is now no more! We’ve worked really hard to improve the features and now the whole site is accessible in a “touch friendly” interface. We’ve even added Warriors TV support so you don’t need to go on the computer to watch the latest videos.

We hope you like this change. To see it, just go to this web site in the web browser and it’ll load it.

Let us know in the comments below what you think!

New feature: Get recommendations on what to view using your Facebook friends!

We’ve just added a new feature to the bar at the bottom of the site. The new “Recommended” button looks at your friends on Facebook and sees what pages on Hucknall Warriors FC they’ve “liked” and shows you pages recommended for you. This will allow you to find more interesting things on the site so the more pages that get “liked”, the more recommendations  you get on the site, so if you see something you like, remember to hit the “like” button at the bottom of the page!

A few changes!

I’ve just made a few changes to the site. Firstly we’ve got a new toolbar at the bottom with various options such as share, like and view the Facebook page. The sidebar has also been simplified to make the pages load a little faster.

We’re back!

As you may have noticed over the last two weeks, the site has been up and down for nearly everyone, and that really is annoying for both us and you. For those who care, we had a DNS problem with our domain name as we moved hosting companies. We’ve been through so much to try and get it working and finally we worked out the problem this evening. The site was up for most non Virgin Media customers but for Virgin Media it was down, in the end we traced the issue.

If you know someone who’s still having problems with the site here’s something to try:

  • On a Windows (most versions are fine) machine press the Windows Key (the button (usually) next to the CTRL button on your keyboard) and R at the same time.
  • Type in ‘cmd’ (without the quotes) and press enter.
  • Now, type in ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ (again, without the quotes) and press enter.
  • Now close that window and try the site.

If this doesn’t work try turning off your modem and router for a few hours and bringing it back on. If that doesn’t fix it, just wait. It might take until Friday for the system to fully work for everyone, so it might take time for you.

If it’s Saturday (17th July) and problems are still occuring, drop me an email on contact@hucknallwarriors.co.uk or write on the Facebook page. It’d be a pleasure to help!

Sorry for the problems and if you haven’t had time to check it out yet, enjoy the site!

Information regarding iPod touch/iPhone web app

Unfortunately the iPod touch/web app is experiencing issues so we’ve had to remove it for now. It’ll be back in a few days.

Thank you for your patience!

Update: It’s back up now although the menu still isn’t working 100% properly. This will be fixed in the coming day or two.

Update 2: It’s fixed but we’re going to simplify the menu at the top.

Welcome to our new web site!

Welcome to the brand new Hucknall Warriors FC web site. We’ve rebuilt the site from scratch to help you find the information you want as quickly as possible.

The main changes you will see are a brand new look complete with drop-down menus and a side bar listing information about the page you’re on. For example, if you’re on the Under 9 page, it’ll show information about the Under 9 team.

Warriors for iPhone and iPod touch

We’ve also recognised people are using devices like iPod touches and iPads to access the web site now, so we’ve built three different versions of the web site. One version for your standard computer, one version for iPod touch and mobile phones and another for iPad. The iPod touch and mobile phone version works just like an app. Simply type in www.hucknallwarriors.co.uk and you’ll be greeted with a mobile phone friendly interface. We’ve worked hard to make sure the videos play on this, and they do! Before videos were not in a compatible format but all new videos on the web site (along with some of the older ones) are compatible. The iPad app works just like the desktop app except we’ve used a technology called HTML5 for the video playback. Standard Adobe Flash videos do not play on the iPad.

Commenting is also a big part of the new web site. Any post has comments enabled so if you want to share your thoughts on a match you can write a comment for everyone else to see. This is perfect for sharing your thoughts on a particular thing.

There’s much more to check out on our new web site, so take a look! We’re still working on improving it so comment on this post if you’ve got any ideas or suggestions for the web site. Also as the site has been built from scratch please let us know if you find any bugs. (by emailing us at contact@hucknallwarriors.co.uk – you can also let us know what you think of the new site using the same address)
