West Bridgford Pumas 3 Hucknall Warriors Reds 3

Goal scorers: N. WRIGHT, R. SCOTT, J. HUTCHBY
Match type: League
Man of the match: Luke Cook
Match Location: Home

Hucknall Warriors travelled to high scoring West Bridgford Pumas in this Notts Youth League under 15′s division 2 match. Warriors started off strongly and could have been on the score sheet early in the game when Sam Stewart’s well directed header was tipped over the bar by the home keeper. Nyran Wright put the visitors in the lead when he lobbed the keeper from outside the box, however the advantage was short lived as a Pumas player was on hand to nod the ball into the net at the far post after a well taken corner. The home team then grabbed a second with a carbon copy of their first goal , following a fantastic save by  Warriors goalkeeper Luke Cook however the  visitors deservedly got themselves back into the game when Regan Scotts shot was misjudged by the goalkeeper and it cruelly went through his legs to take Warriors into the interval level at 2-2.

A  pulsating second half saw Tom Hall come close when he struck the bar  and Warriors had more chances to take a slender lead before  once again a Pumas player took advantage of some lax marking and  his free header gave  keeper Cook no chance. In a see-saw game Warriors were awarded a free kick from outside the box  and Jack Hutchby made no mistake in the 47th minute as he powerfully drove the ball into the back of the net. Although Hucknall continued to press forward in numbers throughout the remainder of a frenetic second half they were unable to break the deadlock to secure a winning goal  against a home side who broke with speed and pace. Andreas Kokkinou stuck like glue to the  Pumas  number 9 who before the game was the divisions leading striker and man of the match Luke Cook  thwarted West Bridgford with several fantastic saves and was commanding between the sticks. A gritty performance by the whole team who worked tirelessly through out the game to earn a well deserved point.

Trowell FC 1 Hucknall Warriors Reds 4

Goal scorers: Tom Hall, Regan Scott, Andreas Kokkinou, Lucas Elliott
Match type: League
Man of the match: Tom Hall
Match Location: Away

Warriors went into this Notts Youth League under 15′s division 2 game against newly promoted Trowell looking to secure their first away points of the season. Although the visitors started off well a combination of poor passing and missed opportunities  saw them under pressure for long periods of the first half. Regan Scott came closest to scoring when his well struck shot was parried by the Trowell goal keeper but despite this and the spurning of other clear cut chances , the home team took a slender 1-0 lead into the half time break when their pacey striker broke through the Warriors defence and slotted the ball past the keeper.

The second period saw Warriors step up their game and they eventually got on level terms when Alex Galloway’s right wing cross was converted by man of the match Tom Hall in the six yard box. Turning up the pressure it was only a matter of time before Warriors took the lead, as they bombarded the home goal  and it was Regan Scott on the far post who tapped in  a Jack Hutchby corner for a second and crucial goal. Defender Andreas Kokkinou then blasted a shot from outside the area that the keeper could only palm into his own net for the third before Lucas Elliott stabbed the ball in from  short range to finish the scoring. The visiting defence was rarely tested during a much improved second half performance.

Hucknall Warriors Reds 6 Keyworth United Green 1

Goal scorers: Lees, Kokkinou, Hall, Stewart, Hutchby, Stafford.
Match type: League
Man of the match: Lewis Nixon
Match Location: Home

Hucknall Warriors under 15′s Reds made amends for last weeks disappointing defeat with an absolutely convincing victory against Keyworth United Green in the second division of the Notts Youth League. A superb team performance saw Warriors take a seventh minute lead when Jack Hutchby’s long ball found Regan Scott whose excellent cross reached the head of Paice Lees who was able to glance the ball into the net. Minutes later Andreas Kokkinou made it 2-0 with an unstoppable shot from outside the box. The home team looked in control and were unlucky not to add to their tally when Scott’s header just missed the far post after he had sent a number of fine balls in to the box himself.Moments  later Liam  Burleys tight angle shot was parried away by the keeper. Keyworth grabbed a goal back before the half time break when their last man beat a Warriors defender and his powerful shot gave  keeper Luke Cook no chance.

The second half started off brightly for Warriors and despite making several changes to their line up at half time the team continued to play in the same vein with some wonderful flowing football. Excellent, tenacious defending from Man of the match Lewis Nixon aided by fellow defender Jac  Stevenson in particular, saw Keyworth limited in chances going forward. Burley then assisted in the next two goals firstly when his pass found Tom Hall who coolly flicked the ball over the keeper and secondly when his corner kick found the head of the towering Sam Stewart who thundered home the fourth. Nyran Wright and Lucas Elliott were unfortunate not to get on the score sheet  and with Alex Galloway and Luke Atter putting in a number of  excellent crosses from both wings it looked inevitable that Warriors would add to their tally and they did when  Hutchby  got goal number five with a shot from the right wing .Warriors Captain, Tyler Stafford sealed the victory with a fine shot from inside the six yard box. An excellent display that saw Warriors play the passing game with style!

East Leake Bantams 4 Hucknall Warriors Reds 1

Goal scorers: Regan Scott
Match type: League
Man of the match: Andreas Kokkinou
Match Location: Away

A disappointing performance saw Hucknall Warriors under 15′s Reds slip to a 4-1 defeat to East Leake Bantams in this Notts Youth League second division game. From the first whistle Warriors were a shadow of the team that won mid week and were second best to a strong and determined home team.  The closest Warriors came to scoring in the early stages was through Nyran Wright whose shot only just went wide.  Twenty minutes into the game East Leake took the lead when their pacy number two out ran the visiting defence to slot the ball past the keeper.  Despite being under pressure for the majority of the half Warriors began to create some chances and Regan Scott was on hand to control a Tyler Stafford long ball and pass it into the net from short range for the equaliser to go into the half time break level.

It seemed from the opening period of the second half that the game would finish level as both teams had chances that they were unable to convert. The home team regained the lead when a mix up in the Warriors defence enabled them to score a second and although the visitors came close on several occasions East Leake added a third when their striker out witted the home defence again to claim his hat trick. Victory was sealed for the home team when a Bantams defender shot from over the half way line and despite Luke Cook getting his fingers to the ball he was unable to prevent it from going over the line. Man of the match went to defender Andreas Kokkinou for another determined performance.
