Greasley MW 0 Hucknall Warriors Reds 1

According to manager Mick Burnell Warriors put in their best performance of the season so far, against Greasley MW, in this Young Elizabethan under 14′s division 2 game. Despite only having 10 men available for the game Warriors played with passion and determination for the whole game against a team that had beaten them comfortably only a few weeks ago. Outstanding performances from all players saw the visitors thwart a solid Greasley side and outstanding defending from Andreas Kokkinou, Sam Stewart, Luke Atter and new signing Jac Stevenson meant that goalkeeper Luke Cook was hardly called upon to make a save. Total commitment from all players saw Warriors keep the scoreline 0-0 at the break despite going down to 9 players for the final ten minutes of the half. The best chance in the opening period fell to Alex Galloway whose close range shot just missed the target.

The second half saw Warriors continue to press and were unlucky when Kokkinou connected with an excellent corner from Liam Burley only for his header to just squeeze over the bar. Midfielders Regan Scott and Nyran Wright worked tirelessly to ensure the Greasley midfield were under constant pressure and it was not long before Warriors efforts got the rewards they deserved when  following another  corner Galloway put the ball back into the box for Lucas Elliott to head the ball into the net over the stranded keeper. Despite some sustained pressure Greasley were unable to grab the elusive equaliser which meant that ten men Warriors had pulled off a fantastic victory against the odds. An excellent team effort with special mention for newcomer Stevenson who slotted into the defence with ease and gave a terrific performance on his debut.

Hucknall Warriors U14 Reds 3 West Bridgford Pumas 3

Hucknall Warriors under 14′s Reds gave a much improved performance in this Young Elizabethan division 2 game against West Bridgford Pumas. Starting brightly Warriors soon took the lead when Regan Scott latched on to a flick on to give the home side a much needed boost in confidence. Despite playing some excellent passing football Warriors were unable to add to their tally before Pumas grabbed a soft equaliser. The home side never gave up and were rewarded when Pumas goalkeeper was only able to parry a goal bound shot from Liam Burley and Nyran Wright was on hand to bury the ball into the net.
The second half saw Pumas beat the Warriors defence on two occasions to take the lead  against the run of play but the home team battled  away and were rewarded with a penalty decision when Andreas Kokkinou was brought down in the box. Unfortunately the resulting penalty was not converted and when Lucas Elliott blazed his shot over the bar from close range it looked as if Warriors would be heading for another defeat .Goal keeper Luke Cook made several tremendous saves to keep his team in the game and with Tyler Stafford and Sam Stewart commanding in defence the deficit remained one goal until the final minutes of the game when Man of the match Regan Scott was  brought down in the box and his successful spot kick saw Warriors grab a deserved equaliser to bring their losing run to an end.Warriors Manager Mick Burnell was proud of all the lads adding that this was a performance on which to build and one that could get our season back on track.

East Leake Bantams 4 Hucknall WarriorsU14 reds 1

Warriors recent slump in form continued in this Young Elizabethan under 14′s division 2 game against East leake Bantams. In a game of two distinct halves ,performance wise, Warriors got off to another bad start as they fell foul of the long ball played over the top to see themselves 3-0 behind before the break. Luke Cook  made a couple of excellent stops to give Warriors some hope and combined with resolute defending from Tyler Stafford and Lewis Nixon prevented any further concessions.

The second half saw a glimpse of the real Warriors as they came out fighting. Sam Stewart grabbed a goal back for the away team from just inside the box and  defender Stafford found himself  unmarked in the area but saw his shot squirm past the post. As Warriors pressed forward Liam Burley provided a pin point cross for  Regan Scott who despite an excellent attempt was unlucky not to score.Despite further  attempts  the home goal keeper proved invincible and Warriors were unable to add to their tally.  A much improved second half performance by the Warriors as they attempt to re discover their excellent early season form.

Hucknall Warriors U14 Reds 0 Greasley MW 4

Warriors suffered another defeat in this Young Elizabethan division 2 game against a strong Greasley side. A sub standard performance saw Warriors under pressure from the start of the game and man of the match Luke Cook was forced to make numerous excellent saves to keep them in with any chance of a point.  Greasley took their chances and were 2-0 up at the half time break to give the home team a second half mountain to climb.
Despite going further behind early in the second half determined performances from Sam Stewart, Tyler Stafford and Lewis Nixon kept the scoreline respectable. Warriors were perhaps unlucky not to reduce the deficit with Andreas Kokkinou, Regan Scott and Liam Burley all spurning clear cut chances before Greasley bagged a final fourth goal to seal victory. Warriors must now look to next weeks game with a view  to recapturing their excellent early season form.

Bingham Town 3 Hucknall Warriors U14 Red 1

Hucknall Warriors under 14′s Reds were unable to get back to winning ways in this Young Elizabethan division 2 game against high fliers Bingham Town despite an encouraging first half display. The visitors started their first game of the new year, short of match practise due to the extended winter break but still played some positive football in an end to end first half. Although chances were few and far between Warriors matched Bingham in all areas of the game and were  rewarded when Liam Burley latched on to a long ball in to the box and drove the ball over the line to take the lead. Moments later a defensive lapse saw the Bingham strikers unchallenged as they burst into the box to secure the equaliser.  Despite further chances from Andreas Kokkinou and Regan Scott, Warriors were unable to retake the lead despite coming agonisingly close.

Warriors lost their way in the second half and were outplayed in midfield by a well organised Bingham side who tested goal keeper Luke Cook on numerous occasions.  Bingham had luck on their side as firstly an own goal gave them the lead and shortly after a shot deflected over goal keeper  Cook to give them a 3-1 advantage. The visitors were unlucky not to get a consolation goal as they applied pressure but despite several close chances, especially from Jack Hutchbys corner kicks, they could not make an impression on the home goal.  Sam Stewart earned the man of the match award for his determined defending.

Hucknall Warriors Reds 2 Netherfield Colts Blue 3

Warriors were looking for revenge after their recent unlucky defeat against table toppers Netherfield Colts in this Young Elizabethan under 14′s division 2 game. In a scrappy game played on a heavy pitch Warriors soon took the lead when Jack Hutchby beat several defenders to leave the keeper with no chance as he blasted the ball into the net. The loss of influential midfielder Hutchby moments later saw Warriors lose their shape and Netherfield soon got them selves back into the game with a somewhat soft goal. Lewis Nixon and Tyler Stafford worked tirelessly in defence as Netherfield applied the pressure.
Netherfield scored a second goal when an excellent corner connected with the head of an unmarked visiting player leaving goal keeper Luke Cook with no chance. Warriors seemed deflated but after making two tactical substitutions midway into the second half they got back into the game when Alex Galloway’s shot was parried by the goalkeeper and Paice Lees was on hand to take advantage of the rebound to bring the score level again.  Moments later Lees was unfortunate not to get a second when the his shot hit the post. Just as it seemed a draw was the likely result Warriors stood still in defence and allowed Netherfield to score a crucial third goal to take all three points. Man of the match went to Regan Scott for his determined play in midfield.

Carlton Town Yellows 4 Hucknall Warriors Reds 2

A below par performance saw Hucknall Warriors Reds crash out in the first round of the under 14′s Young Elizabethan League Sunday Cup to Carlton Town Yellows. The game, played in atrocious weather conditions, saw both teams have chances in an end to end game and unfortunately for Warriors it was the home team who struck first when slow reactions  gave Carlton an opportunity they didn’t miss. Warriors played some attractive football at times with some first touch passing that split the Carlton defence but were unable to make the chances count with clear cut shots on goal. Joint Men of the match were defender Sam Stewart and goalkeeper Luke Cook who both gave their all in ensuring no further concessions were made in the first half.

As the rain continued to pour in the second half it looked like Warriors chances of proceeding in the cup were over when a rare defensive lapse gave Carlton a 2-0 lead . The visitors rolled up their sleeves and grabbed a goal back when Regan Scott’s excellent pass found Lucas Elliott who made no mistake in beating the home keeper. A goalmouth scramble then saw Liam Burley’s powerful shot parried away by the keeper only for Alex Galloway to follow in at the far post and tap the ball in for a deserved equaliser. A lack of concentration from the restart restored the Carlton lead and despite further efforts on goal Warriors were unable to get a further equaliser which would have took the game into extra time.

Arnold Town Maroon 2 Hucknall Warriors U14 Reds 0

A determined display saw Warriors fail to overcome fellow high flyers Arnold Town Maroon in this Young Elizabethan under 14’s division 2 game.  Despite starting brightly Warriors fell behind to a soft goal following a lapse of concentration in a first half that saw both sides have numerous chances mostly coming from outside the box. Defenders Tyler Stafford and Andreas Kokkinou proved their worth with superior defending which led to the home side having a slender if undeserved lead at half time.

Warriors were far the superior side in the second half with Lucas Elliott coming closest to scoring when he forced an excellent save from the home keeper following some smart football from Regan Scott. In a goal mouth melee Warriors were then foiled when a goal bound shot was cleared off the line and although the visitors threw everything at securing that elusive equaliser the Arnold defence remained firm. Man of the match Luke Atter was outstanding in this second half display helping to thwart Arnold’s forward line and Paice Lees responded well as utility player covering a variety of positions.  With minutes remaining Arnold against the run of play broke out of defence to secure a goal that sealed a hard fought victory and left Warriors hearts broken for a second successive week. On a positive note the Arnold manager commented that his side were lucky to secure all three points along with the referee who said the score was not representative of the game itself.

Netherfield Colts Blue 3  Hucknall Warriors U14 Reds 2

Warriors under 14′s Reds went into this Young Elizabethan division 2 game against Netherfield high on confidence aiming for a sixth straight league win. It seemed from early on however that Netherfield had not read the script as this fixture delivered  end to end action with both teams playing excellent football. Warriors dominated the first half and deservedly went in front when an  excellent cross fell to Liam Burley who made no mistake in burying the ball into the back of the net. Taking the game by the scruff of the neck Warriors were then unlucky not to add to their tally with Burley hitting the bar and Lucas Elliott coming agonisingly close with an instinctive shot which went over by seemingly millimetres.Warriors defensive partnership of Andreas Kokkinou, Tyler Stafford, Lewis Nixon and Luke Atter snuffed out any chances Netherfield created  until against the run of play a controversial off side decision saw Netherfield grab an equaliser. It was hard-working Regan Scott who restored the away sides lead when moments later he took advantage of a loose ball to slot the ball past a stranded keeper and give Warriors a slender lead at half time.

Netherfield came out second half all guns blazing and within minutes had equalised again with an excellent goal that left the keeper no chance. A thrilling second half saw both teams have further chances with both Elliott and Stafford coming close again with shots from outside the area. New signing Sam Stewart impressed in defence with some excellent tackles alongside Man of the Match Kokkinou  and Warriors seemed to be heading towards a deserved draw. However Warriors hearts were broken when a Netherfield strike cruelly deflected off two players to give keeper Luke Cook no chance.  One of the best performances of the season so far against tough opposition  where even the home manager said that Warriors merited a point.

West Bridgford U14 Pumas 1 Hucknall Warriors U14 Reds 3

Warriors continued their excellent unbeaten start to the season with victory over West Bridgford Pumas in this Young Elizabethan under 14′s division 2 game. A dismal first half for Warriors saw them struggle to find any rhythm against a physical West Bridgford side and it was only some solid defending that kept the scoreline level at half time.
The second half saw Warriors burst into life as they began to pass the ball around with aplomb causing Pumas numerous problems . The dead lock was broken when new signing Callum Brown crossed the ball into the box  allowing striker Liam Burley to volley the ball into the net leaving the keeper with no chance. Moments later it was Jack Hutchby who was provider as his pin point pass reached Regan Scott who ran into the box before rifling the ball into the far corner of the net. Warriors confidence was high and they were unlucky not to add further goals to the tally with Paice Lees,Hutchby,Scott and Burley all coming agonisingly close. The visitors then sealed victory when Burley’s cross field pass found Alex Galloway who made no mistake in slotting the ball into the back of the net. An excellent second half display that was only tainted by a late consolation goal for the home team who battled hard until the end. Man of the match went to influential captain Tyler Stafford for his decisive defending and his encouraging attitude throughout a thoroughly entertaining game.

Hucknall Warriors U14 (red)  4 East Leake Bantams 1

Another excellent display gave Warriors their fourth consecutive victory in this Young Elizabethan under 14′s division 2 game against East Leake Bantams. Warriors began the game brightly when Andreas Kokkinou beat several defenders to fire the ball low into the net from outside the box. Bantams were solid in midfield and the home side had to be patient as they looked to secure a second which eventually came when Regan Scott latched onto the ball outside the area and looped his shot past the keeper. Improved defending from Warriors saw the visitors have few clear cut chances to test the keeper and  with man of the match Adam Bishop solid in his defensive role the home team went into the break 2-0 up.
Warriors were soon three goals to the good when Paice Lees’ excellent through ball saw Nyran Wright coolly finish past the keeper and moments later a fourth was added when Jack Hutchby’s long ball fell to Lucas Elliott who finished in style.Keeper Luke Cook kept the Bantams at bay with two excellent stops before the away side grabbed a late consolation goal.

Retford United 2 Hucknall Warriors Reds 0

An end to end first half saw few clear cut chances with Regan Scott and Andreas Kokkinou coming closest to scoring from long range, however the home team broke the deadlock before half time with a strike from outside the box which gave the warriors keeper no chance. Warriors were then guilty of sloppy play at the start of the second half as they gifted the ball to the home team who made the Reds pay by scoring a second crucial goal and giving them a mountain to climb. Warriors continued to battle hard from that point on and Retford were denied further chances to increase their advantage due to the defensive partnership of Man of the match Lewis Nixon, Tyler Stafford and Luke Atter. Defender Kokkinou came closest to scoring a consolation goal when his powerful header was blocked from crossing the line as the visitors got into their stride in the last quarter of the game.

Warriors continued their good start to the season with a victory over newly promoted Pegasus in this Young Elizabethan division 2 Sunday game. Luke Cook in goal also made several top drawer saves to keep the game goalless before Nyran Wright lobbed the keeper to kick start his goal tally for the season. Liam Burley, Regan Scott, Alex Galloway, Paice Lees and Jack Hutchby were all unlucky not to add to the score line and were left to rue missed chances as Warriors were then made to pay the penalty when some disorganised defending  saw Pegasus snatch two goals to take a slender lead into the half time break.

Warriors stepped up a gear in the second half as Liam Burley provided a pin point pass that saw Nyran Wright break through the home defence to slot the ball past the keeper and moments later Wright grabbed his hat trick when a three man move ended with  Lees crossing the ball for Wright to tap in. The following match reports are from previous seasons:

Hucknall Warriors Reds 1 Burton Joyce 2
Warriors came into this end of season, under 13’s Young Elizabethan division 2 game, against bogey team Burton Joyce hoping to clinch a final three points. Warriors had the best of the early stages as they pressed forward on numerous occasions with midfielder Regan Scott working tirelessly on the left wing and Jack Hutchby bossing the midfield. The Warriors defence, with Andreas Kokkinou and Josh Kitchen outstanding, thwarted the away teams’ limited attacks until cruelly conceding a goal against the run of play. It looked inevitable that Warriors would go into the half time break scoreless until Paice Lees instinctively back heeled the ball over the line to level the score.
The home team came out fighting second half as they matched Burton Joyce on all areas of the pitch, keeper Luke Cook again making a couple of excellent saves and Warriors forwards creating several more chances to take the lead.  Loss of concentration saw the visitors again take the lead as they outpaced the home defence and only heroic defending by Man of the match Tyler Stafford kept Warriors in the game. A final fifteen minutes saw the Reds get back into their stride but despite their best efforts they were unable to get the elusive equaliser. A hard fought game that brings a good season to a satisfactory end…….

West Bridgford Pumas 1 Hucknall Warriors Reds 1
Warriors hoped to extend their recent winning streak in this midweek Young Elizabethan under 13’s division 2 against a resurgent Bridgford side who had won their last two games in convincing fashion. The first half saw Warriors have the majority of the possession as they created numerous chances to take the lead and it was the Reds who broke the deadlock when Liam Burley took advantage of indecisiveness in the home defence to slot the ball into the corner of the net.  It seemed like Warriors had then doubled their advantage when Alex Galloway latched onto a rebound from a Pumas player only for the goal to be controversially disallowed. Lucas Elliott then hit the post from with a thunderous short from a corner and Nyran Wright came close following a good passing move. The wasted chances were made to count in the dying seconds of the first half when Pumas only serious shot on target was parried away by the keeper but a Warriors defender was unable to prevent it from going over the line for a cruel equaliser.
After the break Warriors came out disorganised and were unable to apply further pressure as they attempted to thwart a now confident home side. Excellent defensive work by Man of the Match Andreas Kokkinou who also impressed with his tough tackling and skilful play saw Warriors get back into their stride as they bombarded the Pumas goal in an effort to get the elusive winner.  Determined midfielder Regan Scott came closest in the dying minutes but the Reds penultimate game was destined to end with the points shared.

Hucknall Warriors Reds 3 Bingham Town Reds 1

Despite further Bingham pressure Warriors took a slender lead 2-1 into the half time break.

Hucknall Warriors Reds 4 Bestwood Park Rangers 1

Warriors continued their recent good run of form with a deserved victory against local rivals Bestwood in this Young Elizabethan Division 2 match. Hucknall Warriors Reds 0 Bulwell Town Black 6

Warriors crashed back down to earth with a below par performance in this under 13’s Young Elizabethan division 2 game.  Warriors held their own in the early stages, against promotion chasing Bulwell, but eventually fell behind when keeper Luke Cook was unable to prevent the ball crossing the goal line despite  his best efforts. From this point Warriors heads dropped and despite the determined defending of Andreas Kokkinou, Lewis Nixon and man of the match Josh Kitchen they leaked four more goals to leave the result beyond doubt. Alex Galloway came nearest to scoring a consolation goal for the home team in a game that is best forgotten as a performance not typical of this Warriors team.

Hucknall Warriors Red 1 Carlton Town 3

Hucknall Warriors needed all the determination possible if they were to come out of this clash with table toppers Carlton Town with their reputation intact in this Young Elizabethan League Div 2 match and…. determination  was in abundance as the Warriors proved that they are indeed capable of pushing for promotion as the season moves towards what is likely to be a tense climax over the next 8 weeks. Warriors started the brighter of the two teams and made several attacking moves before a pin point long range cross by Paice Lees was met by Regan Scott who coolly shot in to the top right hand corner of the goal. With renewed confidence, Warriors took advantage and had most of the possession with Andreas Kokkinou coming closest to extending the lead. Scott then gave the referee another critical decision to make as the ball seemingly went off the post and over the line but the decision again went Carltons way. Incredibly, after several fine saves, Warriors keeper Luke Cook made what seemed to be another excellent save only for the referee to give a cruel and somewhat questionable  penalty. Carlton made no mistake with the spot kick and despite Warriors battling on in the driving rain Carlton again scored to make it 3-1 which provided an extremely flattering score line. This performance, despite the score line, showed that the Warriors are able to give any of the divisions high flyers a game they will remember

Man of the match Tyler Stafford epitomised what was another great team performance by a Warriors team who are starting to believe in themselves again.

Beacon FC 1 Hucknall Warriors 1

Warriors were then unlucky not to extend their lead as first Paice Lees and then Alex Galloway saw the visiting keeper cling onto the ball to prevent certain goal scoring chances.  Defenders Adam Bishop and Andreas Kokkinou were particularly impressive, and with midfielder Jack Hutchby’s controlled passing dominating midfield Warriors secured a 2-0 lead at half time following a second goal from determined midfielder Scott.
In the second period Warriors struggled to regain their form of the first half allowing East Leake to fight their way back into the game. Following a goal mouth scramble hard working Man of the Match Nyran Wright managed to net the third goal after his shot deflected in off the inside of the post. Luck seemed to be on the visitor’s side today when a great shot from a Carlton striker rebounded off the bar to safety but unfortunately midfielder Jack Hutchby then saw his shot rebound off the bar of the home goal with no Warriors player able to take advantage. Warriors gifted Carlton a soft goal when no threat was evident before Hutchby snatched the equaliser to give the away side a deserved boost following an excellent pass from Regan Scott.  Liam Burley, Alex Galloway, Paice Lees and Joe Graney all came agonisingly close to scoring further goals but despite Warriors taking the game to Carlton in the final 15 minutes they then gift wrapped another goal for the home team with another defensive blunder.

YEL TROPHY QUARTER FINAL

Hucknall Warriors U12 Red 3 Bestwood Park Rangers 2

Hucknall Warriors U12 Reds came out giant killers in this feast of competitive football against Div 2 Bestwood Park Rangers in the quarter final of the YEL Trophy, a competition that the Warriors went all the way to the final in last year, narrowly losing to Arnold. Warriors started nervously and it was Bestwood that got the better start resulting in an early lead 10 minutes in to the game. This propelled Warriors in to some of their best football of the season and when marksman Liam Burley collected the ball in the box, he held off two defenders to then turn  and fire in to the top of the net. From this point onwards Warriors played with confidence and flair and it was Burley again who fired them in to the lead, with a lob that gave the keeper no chance at all. Nyran Wright was menacing before being taken off through injury. With Jake Haywood battling for every ball in midfield and Paice Lees, Lucas Elliott and Alex Galloway all sharp in midfield Warriors showed their class. Warriors battled for every ball with man of the match Joe Graney particularly potent in midfield. Whenever Bantams did break through  they were met with a fortress defence of Tyler Stafford, Lewis Nixon and Andreas Kokkinou who were all outstanding. Lucas Elliott defended resolutely and fed the ball down the flanks well. The goals then kept coming when striker Liam Burley got hold of the ball at 12 yards, turned and volleyed home the fourth and soon after Burley lobbed the ball from 6 yards where Paice Lees was there to run the ball over the line for the fifth. Luke “the cat” Cooke made two vital stops outside his box and Jack Hutchby was denied by the woodwork. From the start Warriors were put under extreme pressure and only desperate defending from Tyler Stafford, Lewis Nixon and Adam Bishop in particular prevented Pumas taking the lead. Warriors then began to take charge with Regan “mosquito” Scott scoring with a fierce shot from outside the area against the run of play. The lead didn’t last long as Warriors were guilty of some slack defending and an equaliser followed when a  Pumas player was allowed to break too easily into the area and score from short range. But it was all Warriors in the closing stages of the first half as Nyran Wright scored from short range followed by a goal from Jack Hutchby, whose quick reactions enabled him to beat the last defender.
The second half started off brightly for Warriors who should have been further ahead with shots from  Wright and Scott hitting the bar and the post respectively. Scott then scored his second with a smart shot that beat the keeper at the near post. Striker Liam Burley then celebrated his 150th consecutive Warriors game getting on the end of an excellent cross from man of the match Alex Galloway to make it 5. A nervy last 10 minutes saw Warriors concede 2 more goals as they tried to defend their lead. Resolute defending from Paice lees  and Andreas Kokkinou meant that Warriors secured the 3 points to further consolidate  their second place position in the league.

Wollaton continued to battle but a resolute defence of Tyler Stafford, Adam Bishop and Lewis Nixon closed them down every time. Warriors striker Liam Burley then collected the ball just inside the box and blasted in the third before a mix up in Wollaton’s defence resulted in an own goal. An ever busy midfield of Lucas Elliott and Alex Galloway kept the pressure on Wollaton.
In the opening minutes of the second half  Paice Lees collected a rebound off the bar to make it 5-0 with an instinctive header.  Wollaton were again lively, giving the Warriors a couple of scares and deserved to secure their first of 2 consolation goals. An exceptional Andreas Kokkinou cleared off the line before Scott secured his second getting on the end of super cross. Hucknall Warriors U12  started the new year in style with an avalanche of goals in this Young Elizabethan Div 3 match. Warriors started brightly and quickly took the lead when Nyran Wright struck the ball well after a good build up through a confident midfield. However the lead was neutralised after Pegasus broke through the defence all too easily, and minutes later  the same poor defending cost Warriors as they went behind. However just before the break Jake Haywood sliced through the defence and shot  to equalise.

In the second period it was all Warriors. Lewis Nixon and Regan Scott held the defence firm before man of the match Jack Hutchby put the Warriors ahead with a fine strike. Soon after Wright secured his second with a superb volley from 6 yards. Stand in captain Lucas Elliott then thundered in from 20 yards before Hutchby secured his second with a quality strike from well outside the box. Joe Graney and Alex Galloway played some neat football in midfield feeding the forwards on a number of occasions and then after initially being given off side by the linesman  Paice Lees strike was rightly allowed by the referee to make it seven for the Warriors. Andreas Kokkinou blasted the eighth just before the final whistle to get the Warriors off to a flying start to 2008.

Hucknall Warriors U12 Red 5 Pegasus Youth White 0

Hucknall Warriors U12 Red showed their form in this Young Elizabethan League Div 3 match by crushing Pegasus and maintaining second position in the table.

Warriors started brightly with all of the early possession and when Jake Haywood and Alex Galloway linked up well, Liam Burley made the keeper pay for his mistake by thundering the ball in to the net to take the lead. The pressure was then kept up as Haywood’s  fine shot was squeezed between keeper and post to make it two. Jack Hutchby secured the third with a penalty after Regan Scott who was busy in midfield was brought down in the area.Midfielder Joe Graney was unlucky not to be on the score sheet with no less than three shots in succession being saved by the keeper. Warriors were then awarded their second penalty after Hutchby was fouled inside the box and Liam Burley secured his second of the game by converting the penalty kick. In the second half Pegasus had a little more possession and came close but man of the match Tyler Stafford helped keep a clean sheet with some passionate defending with fellow defenders Andreas Kokkinou, Lucas Elliott and Lewis Nixon also performing well.Playing up front Paice Lees was a constant danger whilst keeper Luke “the cat” Cooke made two important stops. Pegasus kept out what could have been a stream of further goals, their keeper saving shots from both Scott and Nyran Wright until Hutchby secured his second and Warriors fifth with a powerful shot that the keeper failed to deal with effectively.

HUCKNALL WARRIORS REDS 3 BEACON F.C 1

This 3rd round tie of the FA Shield saw Hucknall Warriors U12 Red field a depleted team leaving them no substitutes. For the first time in recent weeks Warriors took the lead when Jack Hutchby’s unstoppable shot from outside the area left the Beacon keeper with no chance. Excellent midfield play from Regan Scott, Lucas Elliott and Joe Graney saw Warriors create further chances which they should have taken before the visitors clawed their way back into the game following indecision in the Hucknall defence. A see-saw first half then saw defender Lewis Nixon clear off the line, along with fine defending from Andreas Kokkinou and Adam Bishop keeping Warriors in the game. Hutchby then cut through Beacons defence with a long ball from midfield allowing striker Liam Burley to collect the ball and drive past the visitors keeper to put Warriors in front.

The second half saw Warriors have further chances to increase their lead with Wright, Burley and Hutchby all coming agonisingly close but it was Regan Scott who gave the Warriors a two goal cushion  when he lobbed the Beacon keeper. Beacon applied sustained pressure to the Warriors defence in an effort to reduce the deficit, but were unable to beat keeper Luke Cook who made several crucial stops with Tyler Stafformd again clearing off the line in the final moments.

NETHERFIELD COLTS BLUE 7 HUCKNALL WARRIORS 5

Warriors once again found themselves down an early goal in this pulsating top of the table YEL 3rd division clash. But against the run of play Warriors again found themselves behind when a Colts striker split the defence to leave the keeper no chance. It looked like Warriors would still be in front at half time but Netherfield were then given a gift of a goal to equalise virtually on the whistle.

Warriors had a brief period of ascendancy at the start of the second half before Colts began to take control. The home team scored 3 more goals to take the score to 6-3 before Warriors began their fight back. Regan Scott scored following a goal mouth scramble and Jack Hutchby coolly slotted home from inside the box. Alex Galloway was unlucky not to score following some fine passing football by Warriors, however Netherfield then secured a 7th goal to secure a victory that was somewhat flattering and now sees them four points clear at the top with Warriors holding second place.

Hucknall Warriors U12 Red 3 East Valley 2

YEL Trophy

Warriors went in to battle against East Valley in the driving rain and wind with a determination to match last year, when they were cup finalists. It was East Valley who took the early lead after Warriors seemed to take a while to find their stride in the driving wind and rain. However after some fine passing work, Regan Scott found the target to equalise. In an end to end first half it looked like it would be even at the break,  but when striker Liam Burley collected the ball after again some fine passing, he slotted the ball at a tight angle to beat the keeper. The second half got off to the worst possible start as Valley punished Warriors again for some lax defending. From then on it was all Warriors. Tyler Stafford and man of the match Lewis Nixon kept command of the defence and Warriors pushed on with some fine passing football. This eventually paid off when a busy Alex Galloway collected a rebound just inside the six yard box and coolly slotted home the winner.

HUCKNALL WARRIORS RED 5 – 2 CARLTON TOWN

For the second week running Warriors got off to a slow start in this Young Elizabethan League Division 3 U12 match. Brave defending from Lewis Nixon and Andreas Kokkinou  frustrated Carton as they continued to threaten.

The second half saw Carlton quickly get back into the game when they broke through the home defence to secure the equaliser. Keeper Luke “the cat” Cook then made two excellent saves including one from the penalty spot, this brought Warriors back to life with a Jake Haywood goal following a goalmouth scramble and Man of The match Jack Hutchby getting his second goal. FA SHIELD

HUCKNALL WARRIORS 1 EAST LEAKE BANTAMS 1 (WARRIORS WIN 4-1 ON PENALTIES)

Hucknall Warriors U12 Red secured their place in the next round of the FA Shield after a nail biting battle with East Leak Bantams. Warriors got off to the worst possible start after Bantams found the Warriors defence and keeper a sleep after 3 minutes, taking advantage of a goal mouth mix up.

However after that it was all one way traffic with Warriors playing some of their most attractive football of the season. Alex Galloway and joint Man of the match Regan Scott worked the flanks extremely well and created a number of good chances. Lucas Elliot and  Jack Hutchby were dangerous in midfield and the back four of Tyler Stafford, Andreas Kokkinou, Adam Bishop and Lewis Nixon closed down well. When striker Liam Burley latched on to a good through ball he calmly collected and shot to the keepers right to give Warriors the equaliser.

The second half was a different story as the Warriors seemed to lose shape and concentration  allowing Bantams to take control and come close on 2 or 3 occasions with Warriors being saved by joint man of the match keeper Luke “the cat” Cook. In the dying minutes Warriors came close to securing the win when Galloway narrowly missed his connection at the far post and Bantams had a the last kick of the game with a lob that just cleared the bar.

The game was settled after an even period of extra time when Warriors secured a win on penalties thanks to Kokkinou, Elliot, Hutchby and Nyran Wright.

With Warriors lacking any width, shape or creativity in the first period, it was against the run of play that Jack Hutchby’s scorcher from outside the area broke the deadlock. However it was not long before Burton pushed forward again and when a penalty was given for a foul in side the area,  Burton equalised. Jake Haywoods strike before the break gave the Warriors some confidence going into the second period and when Haywood again struck early in the second period,  Warriors were looking like getting the 3 points. However, Burton battled hard and were gifted another 3 goals to take all the points and leave a frustrated Warriors dropping from the top of the table.

Warriors showed their qualities in the first half having the majority of the play but despite this they failed to capitalise until just before the break when Nyran Wright broke through from midfield and coolly lobbed the keeper to put Warriors in the lead. In the second period Warriors lost their shape and succumbed to 3 simple goals after Clifton broke through and twice scored through an un marked player. In the final stages of the game it was all Warriors again. Andreas Kokkinou was as reliable as ever in defence and Jake Haywood frustrated the home side to the point where he was brought down in the box and was able to convert the resulting penalty kick. It was a nail biting end as Warriors again found their form but in the end time ran out and the Warriors had to wonder how they came away from this game without a point after dominating so much of the match.

YEL TROPHY CUP 19th Nov 06

BURTON JOYCE 2 HUCKNALL WARRIORS 5

This YEL Trophy game played at Burton Joyce proved to be an end to end game with both teams having numerous chances throughout the match. Warriors took the lead early in the first half when Jake Haywood scored from close range after the Burton keeper had made a good save from Joe Graney’s fine strike.Soon after the home team levelled with an excellent shot from just outside the area. Warriors soon regained their lead when a free kick, resulting from a foul on Nyran Wright who was on goal, saw Jack Hutchby powerfully strike the ball into the net. Moments later Liam Burley battled past the defence and when his shot rebound, Paice Lees fired in the third  for the Warriors.

The second half started brightly for Burton Joyce and they soon got their second goal. For a while it was backs to the wall for Warriors with man of the match Luke Cook making several outstanding stops.

Regan Scott then added a 4th with a cracking header, from a long cross provided by Tyler Stafford. Warriors then made the win a certainty when Liam Burley, who was celebrating his 100th appearance for the Warriors, blasted the ball in to the net following a fumbled catch from the keeper.

Dunkirk Colts 5 Hucknall Warriors 0

Hucknall Warriors U11′s recent fine league form came to an abrupt end when they faced Dunkirk Colts in the Young Elizabethan League Div 2. Warriors started brightly playing some excellent football against top of the table Dunkirk but after 10 minutes a cruel deflection saw the home team take the lead. A mix up at the back cost the Warriors a second before half time. Warriors continued to battle and hold their own and were unlucky to go in at the break 2 down.

In the second period Dunkirk showed why the are the high flyers in this league punishing the Warriors on 3 more occasions. Man of the match Regan Scott was kept busy in midfield but it was noticeable that the Warriors hardly had a shooting chance in the second period such was the discipline and pace of the Dunkirk squad. Warriors battled on to the end and will take consolation that Dunkirk have turned over other teams by a greater goal difference than this.

Hucknall Warriors 6 East Leake Bantams  4  Holgate sunday 29th October 2006

Hucknall Warriors put themselves back on the map in this Under 11 Young Elizabethan Div 2 league match with 6 class goals in what became a 10 goal thriller. From the very start there was a confidence and discipline about the Warriors and after just 5 minutes Lucas Elliot fired in a cracker having been released down the flank. Regan Scott got the second before Liam Burley took the ball past his defender to fire in the third. Man of the match Jake Haywood headed in to make it 4 before East Leake secured a consolation just before the break. In the second period Warriors sat back and were punished twice in quick succession after some lapse defending. East Leake continued to press but excellent defending by Andreas Kokkinou in particular restricted their chances on goal. In the closing period it was end to end action with East Leake securing another goal before Jake Haywood fired in twice for his hatrick to maintain the deficit.  Keeper Joe Graney had possibly his best match of the season making 3 excellent stops and saving a penalty. In the end the 6-4 score line flattered the visitors.

Netherfield Colts Blue 3 Hucknall Warriors 4

A breathtaking come back in the second half saw Hucknall Warriors snatch a well deserved win in this crucial under 11 Young Elizabethan league Div 2 match. Warriors as usual started strongly but paid the price for some fundamental defensive mistakes, finding themselves two down within 15 minutes. Lucas Elliott fired a superb long range shot to make it 2-1 before Netherfield again opened up the Warriors defence to go in at the break 3-1 up.

In the second period it was the Warriors who did all the pressing and when Paice Lees fired home at short range the Warriors found that confidence missing in recent matches, with Regan Scott being particularly effective. Man of the match Jack Hutchby converted a free kick from well outside the box to put the Warriors back on even terms and then fired in the winner from a rebounded penalty strike. In a nail biting final 5 minutes Netherfield hit the woodwork and Warriors missed a second penalty but it didn’t matter as all the points were bagged by the Warriors in a fine spirited performance.

Hucknall Warriors 2 Stapleford Villa 4 – Holgate Sunday 15th October

Frustration is getting the better of this talented Hucknall Warriors side who again lost at home in this U11 Young Elizabethan League Div 2 game against Stapleford Villa. Warriors started brightly but were dumbstruck when Villa broke through to make it 1-0 with hardly 5 minutes on the clock. Some poor defending was to blame for a further two goals and Warriors found themselves 3-0 down at the break and wondering how it had all happened!

After the break Warriors were again punished for some lethargic defending before Nyran Wright broke free down the left flank and chipped the keeper. Regan Scott re found his form to claw it back to a respectable 4-2 scoreline and some resolute defending from Andreas Kokkinou and man of the match Tyler Stafford kept it to a 2 goal deficit. You cant help feeling that Warriors are close to trouncing the opposition soon which may lead to a change of fortunes for this quality group of players.

Hucknall Warriors 0 – Basford United 1

Despite another match in which at times Warriors displayed some fine football,  they failed to take any points from this game. Warriors had started brightly with some excellent passing football against a physical Basford but it was the visitors who took the lead in the first half with a well placed shot from the edge of the area beating the Warriors Keeper after the defence failed to close down. In the second period Warriors had two golden chances to steal all the points with Regan Scott coming close. Basford continued to pile on the pressure but resolute defending by Tyler Stafford, Lewis Nixon, Adam Bishop and Man of the Match Andreas Kokkinou ensured a nail biting game right to the end.

Arnold Town Blue 1 Hucknall Warriors 0   – Arnold sunday 1st oct

Warriors went in to this Young Elizabethan Div 2 league game with confidence running high after last weeks performance and certainly ran the show in the first half with some excellent passing football, although Towns keeper was never seriously tested apart from a fine long range shot from Jack Hutchby. Warriors moved the ball through midfield well with man of the match Alex Galloway being a constant threat, but at times maybe Warriors could have been a little less precise and used the long ball a little more effectively. After the break it was all Arnold who played route one football with a large degree of success, bypassing midfield and creating 2 or 3 shots on goal before a direct free kick from the edge of the box was converted to make it 1-0. Warriors lost their shape and throughout most of the second half found themselves camped in their own half. Keeper Luke Cook denied Arnold a second goal and Alex Galloway cleared off the line with Andreas Kokkinou and Tyler Stafford putting in  confident performances in defence. Warriors put in a determined last 10 minutes but in the end struggled to get balls in to the box and consequently failed to take any points.

Warriors 6 – Heathfield 0

Hucknall Warriors jump started their season with a convincing win over Bulwell rivals Heathfield F.C

After 10 minutes of Warriors pressure the Heathfield defence finally cracked as Regan Scott opened the scoring followed quickly by goals from Paice Lees and Liam Burley. As the first half drew to an end Warriors struck twice more with a well taken penalty by Andreas Kokkinou  and Nyran Wright outrunning all the Heathfield defence to score the fifth goal

The second half was not so eventful with Warriors only scoring once as Tyler Stafford rifled home to make the final score 6-0

Man of the match was Jack Hutchby with a Steven Gerrard like performance.

East Leake Bantams  3  Hucknall Warriors 2

Defensive blunders cost the Warriors under 11′s dearly in this end to end tightly fought contest in Div 2 of the Young Elizabethan League match. Warriors started brightly dominating the early stages before poor defending allowed the Bantams to take the lead against the run of play. Within minutes Warriors were two goals behind after again failing to clear their lines.  In the second half a controversial third goal put the Bantams clearly in command from what was a clear offside position.

Warriors continued to fight back and after Liam Burley raced to the by line crossing a low ball in to the box, Lewis Nixon made no mistake firing into the right hand corner.

Warriors commanded the closing stages with man of the match Andreas Kokkinou instinctively lobbing the keeper from 25 yards to make it 3-2 however the Warriors ran out of time.

HUCKNALL WARRIORS 1-2 CLIFTON AW WHITE 2   10/9/2006

Warriors expected a tough game for their first match of the new season which was  played at their new home ground - Annie Holgate Junior School . The match started with intense pressure from Clifton who were well disciplined in defence and midfield.

A hard fought first half by both teams saw Clifton have several attempts on goal and only good defending by the Warriors kept the score at 0-0 at half time.

After the break Liam Burley and Regan Scott both came close early in the half for the Warriors with several  good stops made by keeper Joe Graney before he was unable to hold on to a good strike and the loose ball was bundled over the line.  Warriors stepped up a gear to try to secure an equaliser which came with about 5 minutes of the game left when Luke Cook lobbed a ball into the box and Liam Burley controlled well and placed the ball inside the right hand post. As a draw looked like a fair result Warriors were dealt a cruel blow when Clifton secured the winner with an unstoppable shot with seconds left of the clock.

PELICAN COLTS 7 -5 HUCKNALL WARRIORS

A last minute friendly against Pelican who are promoted to first division status this coming season proved to be a real challenge. Against a very physical side Warriors were a daunting 6-0 down after just 30 minutes. A lack of mental discipline from most of the team meant they were slow to get into the pace of the game. The fight back began just before the end of the second twenty minute period when Paice Lees scored from close range.

The final twenty minute period was all warriors with all players at last gelling to reduce the deficit. Firstly Regan Scott added a second for the Warriors after some fine passing play, then Liam Burley raced down the centre of the pitch to lob the Pelican goalie before Regan Scott added his second of the game to bring the score to 6-4. Just as it looked as if Warriors could close the gap further, Pelican scored against the run of play due to some slack defending. Paice lees then added his second just before the final whistle to give a final score of 7-5 to Pelican.

SCAMPTON 2  HUCKNALL WARRIORS 6

An away outing to Lincoln saw the return of both Andreas Kokkinou and Tyler Stafford. In a match played in a stiff breeze, Warriors started brightly with Luke Cook scoring early in the game with a fine shot the Scampton goalkeeper was unable to reach. Soon after Scampton equalised after some weak Warriors defending. Nyran Wright then scored to restore Warriors lead with Alex Galloway scoring soon after to bring the score to 3-1. In a see-saw first half Scampton again closed the gap before Nyran Wright saw his shot go off the head of a Scampton player, into the goal, for his second of the game. First half score 4-2 to Warriors.

The second half belonged to the Warriors with Scampton having fewer shots but also the partnerships of all Warriors players working well to stifle the Scampton attack.

A further goal from Jack Hutchby and then a final goal from the excellent Regan Scott saw Warriors get their sixth goal of the match. Warriors were unlucky not to finish with a higher score as Liam Burley and Jake Haywood were both unlucky not to get at least one goal. Final score 6-2 to Warriors.

BAGTHORPE TOURNAMENT 13/8/2006

Hucknall Warriors returned to this tournament for the second time in two years and once again finished up as cup winners after beating five other local teams. Last years sunshine was replaced by wind and driving rain during the morning games. All the matches were hard fought, low scoring games. The Warriors first game finished with a 1-0 victory against Greasley MW with Regan Scott scoring the only goal of the game.

The next two matches were goalless draws against both Ernhale teams. Match four was against a very good Bagthorpe Athletic side. After going down 1-0 to an early penalty Warriors fought back with two further goals from Regan Scott to win the match 2-1. Excellent defending from Lewis Nixon and Jack Hutchby enabled Warriors to keep there lead.

The final group match saw Hucknall beat Carlton Town 1-0 with an excellent strike from Alex Galloway.

The tournament final was between Warriors and Ernhale Colts. Warriors took the lead when Scott again connected with a well taken corner. Although Ernhale tried to fight their way back into the match the final score was 1-0.

An all round team performance from all players on the day and another proud moment for all concerned as the Warriors lifted the trophy..

ROLLS ROYCE 7 HUCKNALL WARRIORS 6    SAT 29/7/2006

This rematch again proved to be another close game with both sides at times having the upper hand during the match. The first blow was struck by Warriors when Liam Burley scored with a shot from just inside the edge of the box. The lead was short lived however and Rolls soon got an equaliser to make the game 1-1. Rolls keeper then made a fine finger tip save from Burley, but minutes later Mitchell Cassidy hit a fine shot from the left to put Warriors back in front. Warriors then went 3-1 in front when Liam Burley got the better of a Rolls defender to score his second.

Rolls again pulled one back with a cross from the right going straight in to make it    3-2. Regan Scott then made it 4-2 for the Warriors with a short range shot. The first half definitely belonged to Warriors with good defending from Lewis Nixon, Jack Hutchby and Shannon Garlick.

The second half found Warriors lacking when Rolls hit back with a good strike from inside the box. Minutes later Rolls were awarded a penalty after a player was brought down in the box. Joe Grainey, who had made some fine stops, stood no chance with the penalty shot and Rolls got on equal terms at 4 a piece. Two further goals took Rolls into a commanding lead. Warriors then began to get back into the game when Paice  squeezed in a half volley from a very tight angle. Lewis Nixon also came close after a fine run and Alex Galloway dominated in midfield.  With only a couple of minutes to go Lucas Elliott ran one third of the pitch to score and bring the goal tally to 7-6 to Rolls. It was another exciting game between the two teams but again Rolls finished just on top.

SUNDAY 16th JULY 2006 – Toton Tournament

The Warriors first tournament of the summer took place at Beeston on Saturday 15th July. A very well run tournament saw Warriors in a qualifying league alongside four other local teams.

The first match was against Sneinton Town who started the match strongly. However Warriors came back into the game and created several good chances but were unable to take them and were level at half time. The second half again mostly belonged to Warriors, however a goal against the run of play meant a defeat in the first game.

Match 2 was against Gedling Town Black. Warriors were in control from the start and took the lead in the first half when Nyran Wright completed a fine solo run from the half way line with a cracking shot from the edge of the box.

The second  half again belonged to Warriors who took a  2-0 lead when Liam Burley volleyed from close range. Warriors were unlucky not to win by a greater margin as shots from Regan Scott, Jack Hutchby and Liam Burley were all saved by the keeper.

Match 3 was against Radcliffe Olympic who had won all their previous three matches. Another display of fine defending by Tyler Stafford, Lewis Nixon and Andreas Kokkinou meant that few attempts were made on the Warriors goal.Warriors again took a one goal lead in the first half when Liam Burleys strike went in off the post after a good run by Lucas Elliott. The second half saw great defensive and midfield work from Regan Scott and Jack Hutchby. The win was sealed when Nyran Wright once again scored with a fine strike from just inside the area.

Match 4 was now crucial if we were to progress to the Quarter Final stage as Toton, our opponents, were level on points but had scored one more goal than Warriors. Warriors gave everything they had but were unable to break down the Toton defence despite two fine strikes by Alex Galloway which were saved by the Toton keeper in the first half. The second half belonged to Toton who forced two very good late saves from Joe Graney who tipped both shots over the bar. Final result 0-0.

Despite missing out on a quarter final spot a great afternoon was had by all  and it was a great team performance by all the Warriors players

Hucknall Warriors FC - 6   East Valley United – 1   Sunday 9th July 2006  – Southglade

The summer round of friendlies and tournaments got off to a great start for the new Hucknall Warriors FC with a comprehensive 6-1 win over East Valley United. Warriors hit the target early when Luke Cook lobbed the keeper from short range and after some good build up play in midfield Alex Galloway hit his first goal of the season after coming off the bench.  Further excellent passing football allowed Jake Haywood to fire home the third for the Warriors just before the break. In the second half, after earlier hitting the woodwork, striker Liam Burley blasted from the edge of the box to make it 4 following a fine run and pass from Lucas Elliott. The second half passing play in midfield from Jack Hutchby and Regan Scott was a joy to behold and the back three of Lewis Nixon, Shannon Garlic and Andreas Kokkinou created a solid wall in front of the untested Joe Graney. East Valley pulled a goal back after a fine single handed run from within their own half but after Burley was fouled inside the box, Warriors were awarded a penalty.Liam Burley stepped up and made no mistake in driving the ball home for his second. In the closing stages Nyran Wright came close twice before Jack Hutchby made it 6-1 with minutes to go.All in all a fine display of football by the Warriors.

Warriors 7 Rolls 9 MAY 2006

It was an end to end game in this match against local rivals Rolls held at Kimberley Temple. Harriers took an early lead with Regan Scott scoring in the first two minutes of the game. However Rolls stormed back to be 3 –1 up midway through the first half. Fine mid field work from Luke Cook and Liam Towle and solid defending from Tyler Stafford enabled Harriers to stem the tide and get back into the game. Regan Scott  then added a further two goals to his tally to get his first half hat trick.  With the game evenly poised Liam Burley scored from close range to make the half time score 4-3 to the Harriers.

The second half started brightly for Harriers with Liam Burley lobbing the keeper for his second.  However Rolls bounced straight back to reduce the deficit to one goal again. Almost immediately Jack Hutchby scored with a powerful shot before Rolls pounced again after some lax defending from a free kick. Regan Scott then got his fourth of the game with a cracking shot from well outside the box. At this point Harriers were leading 7-5. The rest of the match belonged to Rolls who then went on to score four further goals to seal the victory. Although Harriers lost out, there were some promising performances and some good learning points in what was, in the end as thrilling as the FA Cup final that followed that afternoon.

28/29/30/04/2006 SCARBOROUGH TOURNAMENT

A larger trophy cabinet will be required for Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s soon as the their 2006 successes continued with the UK Football Tours tournament weekend at Scarborough. This tournament which includes sides from all around the UK was well attended with around 50 teams playing each other over the bank holiday weekend.

Harriers got off to a slow start on the Saturday losing 1 game and drawing 3, all of which they could have and should have won with Liam Burley coming closest. But it was the Sunday that secured the silverware with Harriers winning all 4 of their games including the Plate Trophy final. The damage was done by Jake Haywood, Regan Scott and Lewis Nixon, with the defensive partnership of Tyler Stafford, Lucas Ellliot, Lewis Nixon and keeper Joe Graney keeping clean sheets in all of the games. Nyran Wright and Alex Galloway showed their versatility by playing in  various positions as Harriers commanded most of the matches. The trophy was presented by double European Cup winner and ex forest player John McGovern and Ex Forest and Derby hero Archie Gemmill.

09/04/2006 PELICAN COLTS

A spirited performance from Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s  saw them give a great performance against title winners Pelican Colts in the Young Elizabethan league Div 2 .

Although Colts started brightly it was Harrier who took the lead against the run of play after some fine work from Nyran Wright eventually found Regan Scott who fired home to break the deadlock. Skilful Colts continued to apply the pressure and demonstrated why they have been sitting at the top of the table for so long with two fine strikes to go into the break in the lead. In the second period Harrier stepped up a gear and came close on several occasions with Liam Burley firing just above the bar, Jake Haywood narrowly missing the target and an energetic Alex Galloway causing Colt problems both in midfield and up front. Man of the match Andreas Kokkinou commanded Harriers defence with real determination along with Lewis Nixon but in the final minutes Colts clinched the game and the title with an unstoppable half volley from outside the box.

02/04/2006 VERNON COLTS

Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s were determined to get at least a point in this physical battle against AFC Vernon White in the Young Elizabethan league Div 2. Fired up Harriers with two games to go knew they needed a win to finish mid table this season. However the tension showed as despite a very physical game neither side were able to make it count in the first half. Harriers defended well as usual with Stafford, Nixon and Elliott holding firm together with substitute Andreas Kokkinou. Vernon broke the deadlock in the second period when Harrier lost composure at the back and allowed an un stoppable shot to hit the target. Man of the match Regan Scott commanded the midfield for Harriers battling away to release striker Nyran Wright who lobbed the equaliser from outside the area, leaving the keeper stranded.

19/03/2006 KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE

Off form Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s  went down 3-1 to Kimberley MW Black in the Young Elizabethan league Div 2 .

Starting brightly Harriers found themselves behind to an own goal despite having had several chances to clear the ball. Harriers struggling to find their form in recent games, failed to test Kimberley’s keeper in the first period and were lucky to go in to the break only a goal down. In the second period Kimberley piled on the pressure and despite some tough tackling from Andreas Kokkinou eventually broke through the defence to drive in their second.  Harrier came close with man of the match Lucas Elliott forcing a fine save and Regan Scott scoring a solo effort consolation goal. However Kimberley made sure they went home with all three points minutes from the end with their third goal scored on the break after Harriers had thrown all men forward in an attempt to secure an equaliser.

12/03/2006 PELICAN COLTS

Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s were denied 3 points by a controversial  single goal against Pelican Colts in the Young Elizabethan league Div 2. Playing in driving sleet and rain conditions Harriers battled in an evenly fought first half where both teams had few scoring chances. Harriers came close with a well worked move in midfield by Regan Scott who produced a fine ball to  Liam Burley who struck for the only shot of the half on target for Harriers. Pushing forwards Pelican looked dangerous on a few occasions before a long ball from midfield seemed to hit the forearm of the striker prior to him firing in to the net  to make it 1-0.

In the second half, Harriers using several substitutes seemed to loose their shape and allowed Pelican to push forward.Only the determination of Lewis Nixon and man of match Tyler Stafford prevented more damage. A lively Alex Galloway threatened up front on a couple of occasions but in the end Harriers paid the price for a dubious refereeing decision and came away without any points

05/03/2006 STAPLEFORD VILLA BLUE

Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s gave away two points in a 2-2 thriller against Stapleford Villa in the Young Elizabethan league Div 2. Harrier went behind in the first period after some very sloppy defending against the run of play then after some good build up work in midfield Liam Burley collected the ball in the box and after turning fired home the equaliser. Harrier seemed determined to extend their lead with Alex Galloway coming close. In the early stages of the second period Harrier were confined to their own half as Stapleford piled on the pressure but were denied by keeper Joe Graney. Then with Harriers coming more and more in to the game a  fine pass from Nyran Wright in midfield  found Liam Burley in the box with a clear scoring opportunity but he elected to provide a pin point pass to man of the match Jake Haywood who fired home to make it 2-1. In the dying minutes Harrier failed to close down quickly enough and paid the price as Villa were allowed too much space enabling them to hammer in the equaliser.

26/02/2006 ERNHALE COLTS

Getting back to winning ways, Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s achieved a comfortable 3-0 win over Ernehale Colts in the Young Elizabethan league Div 2 at Watnall Road . Harrier took the lead when Nyran Wright fired home after some fine build up play from midfield involving man of the match Jack Hutchby.Harriers made it 2-0 before the break when Liam Burley was on target with his first touch of the ball after coming off the bench. In the second period Harriers displayed some fine passing play leading to several shots on goal. Ernehale continued to push forward and on occasions looked likely to get themselves back in to the match but Jake Haywood sealed it for Harrier giving them a convincing win and an all round excellent team display.

19/02/2006 KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE BLACK

A below par Hucknall Town Harriers under 10′s  battled their way to a  1-1 draw over Kimberley MW Black in the Young Elizabethan league Div 2 . Harriers struggled to match their recent fine form in the first period with very few chances on goal in what was a scrappy game played on a heavy pitch. After a couple of half chances Kimberley finally broke the deadlock with a long range shot just before the break. In the second period both teams had a few chances with Kimberley being denied by three fine saves from keeper Joe Graney and the tough tackling of Tyler Stafford. With 10 minutes to go  Lucas Elliott fired the ball into the net for Harriers only to be disallowed by the referee in what was one of a few questionable decisions. Harriers continued to push forward and were rewarded minutes from the end when Regan Scott got hold of a loose ball and fired home the equaliser.

12/02/2006 WEST BRIDGEFORD PUMAS

Hucknall Town Harriers Under 10′s sent out a warning signal  to the rest of the Division 2 Young Elizabethan league after drawing 2-2 with top of the table West Bridgford Pumas in a match that they really deserved to win. Harriers started the stronger of the two sides playing some excellent passing football, something that has figured more and more in recent matches before Liam Burley broke the deadlock with a left footed blast from short range. Harriers losing their shape somewhat in the later stages of the half allowed Pumas to break clear and equalise just before the interval. In the second period Pumas had a couple of chances but were denied by keeper Joe Graney and the ever dependable Lewis Nixon. Harriers applied more pressure with Jake Haywood commanding the midfield before Pumas broke free once again to take the lead completely against the run of play. Tyler Stafford cleared off the line for Harriers who continuing to battle in the driving rain were rewarded when Liam Burley got the equaliser with a fine left footed half volley. Harriers were unlucky not to take all the points after creating several  chances in the closing minutes. Man of the match was awarded to the whole team after such a fine display of football made it impossible to single anyone out.

In the second period Arnold piled on the pressure but failed to make it count after some fine saves from keeper Joe Graney and tough defending from Lewis Nixon, Tyler Stafford and new comer Andreas Kokkinou. In the closing period man of the match Liam Burley scored the winner with pin point precision placing the ball between keeper and near post to secure all 3 points.

22/01/2006 HEATHFIELD

Hucknall Town Harriers Under 10′s threw away a 2 goal lead to take only a point against this seasons bogey team Heathfield in Division 2 of the Young Elizabethan League. Harriers took command in the first half when Jake Haywood secured his 50th goal for the team with a well placed shot from near range and Tyler Stafford unleashed a volley for what must be a goal of the season contender. However Heathfield took advantage of some careless defending after the break scoring 2 late goals and denying Harriers all three points.

Hucknall Town Harriers Under 10′s new year got off to a flying start with a 2-0 win over Quarrydale FC in Division 2 of the Young Elizabethan league. In what was arguably Harriers best display of the season against a physical Quarrydale, the first half was an end to end feast of quick paced play and despite both sides having chances it remained goalless at the break.  Early in to the second half Jake Haywood got on the end of a fine corner heading in to the top left and leaving the keeper stranded to break the dead lock. Quarrydale had several chances but they were denied by keeper Joe Graney and some fine defending from the back three of Lucas Elliott,Lewis Nixon and make shift defender Regan Scott. Harriers came close with Liam Burley hitting the woodwork twice and also testing the keeper from close range. Quarrydales keeper made consecutive stops from Haywood and Burley before Regan Scott picked up the loose ball and hit a screamer from outside the box to make it 2-0. Harriers could have had more goals with man of the match Nyran Wright also hitting the woodwork but in the end this was a comprehensive win.
