After a convincing victory in midweek Warriors slumped to a disappointing defeat in this Young Elizabethan under 14′s division 2 game against mid table rivals Keyworth. Warriors held their own in an end to end first half without creating any clear cut chances to break the deadlock. Keyworth ensured that the visitors defence was tested on numerous occasions as they played the the ball over the top and it was only goalkeeper Luke Cook and the woodwork that prevented Warriors going behind. The home side stuck to their task and just before time broke through the Warriors defence to hold a slender lead at half time.
Warriors fall foul of the long ball on two more occasions early in the second half to give them an mountain to climb if they were going to get anything out of the game. As the half progressed Warriors began to get their passing and moving game going with Paice Lees, Regan Scott and Jack Hutchby getting more and more involved. Despite the efforts of Man of the match Lewis Nixon who toiled tirelessly in defence and Andreas Kokkinou, Keyworth grabbed a fourth goal to clinch a deserved victory. Warriors came closest to scoring a consolation goal in the dying minutes when Liam Burley’s shot was saved on the line by the home goalkeeper.
