Warriors battled to a deserved point in this under 14’s Young Elizabethan division 2 game against local rivals Bagthorpe Athletic.  The home team had the lions  share of possession in an end to end first half that saw goal keeper Luke Cook make some crucial stops with the Warriors defence having to step up to the mark to prevent Bagthorpe’s pacy centre forward from opening the scoring. For the visitors Luke Atter came agonisingly close with a long range shot that just dipped over the bar with    Nyran Wright also unfortunate not to beat the keeper. Against the run of play, man of the match Liam Burley put Warriors ahead when he was on hand to stab the ball over the line after the Bagthorpe keeper spilled the ball in the box.

The second half saw Warriors dominate play,  creating numerous chances with Regan Scott, Wright  Burley and Atter all having opportunities to increase Warriors lead . As with the first half and despite all Warriors pressure, Bagthorpe scored a crucial equaliser to leave both sides with a nervy final fifteen minutes. Tyler Stafford, Lewis Nixon, Paice Lees and Sam Stewart snuffed out any further chances for the home team with Scott and Jack Hutchby chasing every ball in midfield. Warriors will now look to further determined performances in their final three games of the season if they are to consolidate their mid table position.
